Mehar Chand College of Education (MCCE), Bhanopli is established in the name of Late Shri Mehar Chand Chaudhary. Shri Mehar Chand Chaudhary who came to this area in 1952 when his family along with several other families of his native place ‘Chaunta’ were displaced due to establishment of Bhakra Dam.
He always had a vision to serve his area and he indeed was known as a great social worker not only when he was in his area but also when he was displaced by the Government. As he was a great visionary and foresighted, so he never lost his heart and started his new life in this area. He always used to help the people of this area. He felt that there was a dire need of education in this area. He was of the firm view that education can definitely uplift the life of the individual and of the area and of the society as a whole. But unfortunately he could not survive to fulfill his dream because of his untimely death due to cancer.
After about three decades his family members under the chairmanship of Sh. Kushal Chaudhary, his grandson formed “Ganga Ram Memorial Education & Charitable Trust” on 22nd of February 2002 in the name of the father of Shri Mehar Chand Chaudhary to fulfill his dream. His family members established an education college on the land, which was purchased by him in the early seventy’s for such a noble cause. The Trust kept in view the objectives i.e. to promote and propagate the education among mass.
